About The Author
John Bell
Flutist

Starting music in 2004, John played the tenor sax from 6th to 9th grade, when he switched to the baritone sax. Feeling unchallenged, John decided to switch to the flute his following year as a sophomore in high school. Since then he has become an outstanding flutist being invited to various honor ensembles at various college throughout Minnesota.
Having no formal training on flute has allowed John to develope his own techniques and way of playing. He created this website to give other flutists, who may not have the opportunity for private lessons, the chance to develop their own techniques. He believes that nothing is learned from being told how to do something, but instead being inspired allows the opportunity to learn how to play the way that you like it, since playing music without joy is not playing music at all.
Currently a member of the Concordia Band at Concordia College, Moorhead, John is involved with 3 other ensembles including Flute Duet, Symphonia Orchestra, and Flute Choir.
John is currently studying flute with Debora Harris, a flute professor at Concordia College. He is also studying voice with Dr. Paul Hindemith.
