Getting Started On The Flute!
Okay, so you have decided to start playing the flute, but you aren't sure where to start. Luckily fo you, you have come to the right place. Any flute player will tell you that starting to play on the flute was a hard task, but well worth it in the end, with the outcome of musical knowledge, a new skill, and sometime, fame and glory.
Now, I wouldn't expect all flute players to get fame and glory. Heck, I don't think I have much fame and glory except for at my school. That's not the reason that I started playing the flute though. Everybody has their own reason for starting, whether it be for a hobby, or as a professional career. The reason I started playing the flute was simple. I got tired of playing the bari sax.
Not that it wasn't fun or anything, it just got very boring after a while. Especially if you think about marches, those quarter note "bomps" in the background got extremely annoying to me, and I just couldn't take being bored in band class anymore. That is when I made the best decision of my life, I switched to the flute.
Now, let me say, I don't think the flute is for everyone. The flute takes extreme air support and if you are just someone who doesn't think you will get the practice time in, maybe a different instrument will be right for you. The flute, like many other instruments, takes time to get good at, and if you don't have the time, maybe this isn't the best idea.
If you have the time though, then we can get started.
